Thinking of something healthy dish to serve for your kids? Try this pork meatballs spaghetti in tomato based sauce. Meatballs are baked to golden perfection, instead of the usual frying.


2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Pork meatballs

500 grams ground lean pork
1 egg, beaten
¼ cup chopped parsley
¼ cup bread crumbs or 3 slices white bread
2 cloves garlic, grated
Salt and pepper, to taste

Italian Tomato Sauce

1/4 cup olive oil
6 cloves garlic, peeled and halved
1/2 cup chopped white onions
1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 cups crushed tomatoes
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups spaghetti, cooked
Grated Parmesan cheese


* Preheat oven to 350°F. Brush baking pan with olive oil. Set aside.

* For the pork meatballs: Combine all pork meatballs ingredients. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well. Shape mixture into 1 1/2 inch balls and arrange on the prepared pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

* For the Italian sauce: Heat olive oil in a large saucepan. Sauté onions, garlic and oregano until fragrant. Add in tomatoes, sugar and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Simmer until mixture is thick for about 40 minutes. Add basil leaves and meatballs. Simmer for another minute.

* In a serving bowl, place cooked pasta and top it with meatballs and tomato sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
