Asian-Style Beef Stew

Don’t be a frazzled cook. Try this slow-cooking beef recipe that your family would surely love. A very luscious dish to savor, because of its fork tender meat combined with sweet and delicious sauce.


1 kilogram beef cubes (short ribs)
3/4 cup mirin or soju
3/4 cup Korean or Japanese soy sauce
2 beef bouillon cubes
2 liters water
1/3 cup sugar
1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
1 red onion, quartered
1 teaspoon sesame oil
salt and pepper, to taste
toasted sesame seeds, for garnish


* Combine beef, mirin, soy sauce, bouillon cubes, sugar and water in a pot. Mix well and bring to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer until the beef is tender. About 1 to 2 hours.

* When beef is tender, add in bell peppers, onion, and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for another 3 minutes.

* Serve in a bowl and garnish with sesame seeds, if desired.

You can also put carrots and potatoes. Eat with rice or vermicelli noodles. Happy eating!
