Cheesy Melt Lasagna

Simple pleasure comes from home-cooked meals. These cheesy baked lasagna is a perfect comfort food that would uplift every gloomy mood. The appetizing aroma, and full flavor of the sauce combined with oozing melting cheese is heavenly.


2 tablespoons butter or oil
1 1/2 cups ground beef
1 1/2 cups ground pork
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 cup tomato sauce
3/4 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup grated quick-melt cheese
8 pieces dry lasagna sheets
6 cups water
2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped


Bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Sprinkle a pinch of salt. Add the lasagna sheets and boil for 10-12 minutes or until al dente. Set aside.

Heat cooking oil or butter in a pan. Sauté onion and garlic. Add beef and pork. Cook for about 3 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, salt and pepper (according to taste) oregano, and nutmeg and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a 2-4 inches deep baking pan, arrange alternate layers of lasagna sheets, sauce, cheddar cheese and quick melt cheese. Repeat layers until lasagna is all used. Sprinkle with grated cheese on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Sprinkle chopped basil on top before serving. Serve slices of garlic bread or baguette on the side.

Tip: You can also substitute lasagna sheets with thinly sliced zucchini for a healthy take.
