“Katsu” is popular food in Japan which consist of a breaded pork, chicken or beef, deep-fried and serve with fresh cabbage. This recipe is easy to do in your own home, when you crave for some breaded chicken or any other meat.
2 pieces chicken fillet, pounded
1 cup milk
1 beaten egg, with 1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup Japanese breadcrumbs
Salt and pepper, to taste
Cooking oil for frying
2 cups shredded cabbage
* Soak the chicken fillet in 1/2 cup milk and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Remove the meat and mix the remaining milk with the eggs and butter, season with salt and pepper. Whisk the mixture to combine well.
* Place the breadcrumbs and the flour in two separate plates. Coat the meat with flour dip in the egg-milk mixtures, then coat with the breadcrumbs.
* Heat 2 inches of oil in the pan. Place breaded chicken and cook in medium high heat until brown. Remove from the pan and arrange on a serving plate with cabbage.
