Fish Fingers in Honey Oyster Sauce

Isn’t it lovely to serve fresh fish, deep-fried to a golden brown perfection and coat it with an oriental sweet oyster sauce. This would be great as an appetizer or main dish. Family day would be more special with this dish for everyone to share.


2 cream dory fish fillets, cut into 2 inch strips
1/2 cup flour
1 egg, beaten
Salt and pepper

Honey Oyster Sauce
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon chili oil
Pinch of salt and pepper
4 tablespoons clear or lemon soda


* Season fish fillet with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour and dip in beaten egg. In a hot pan, deep-fry fish fillet until golden brown. Place in a plate with paper towel. Set aside.

* To make the sauce: Heat pan with cooking oil. Add in ginger and garlic. Sauté for 3 minutes. Mix in oyster sauce, honey, chili oil, and salt and pepper. Stir well. Pour clear soda and simmer for another 3 minutes.
Toss in the fried fish fillet and coat well.

Serve on a platter with chopped green onions and garnish with fresh sliced lemon, if desired.
