Croutons is a must-have to your pantry. You can use it with your salads, soups, or even as a snack. Store-bought croutons sometimes have preservatives to prolong its life. So why not make your own at home and use whenever you need it.


6 slices white or wheat bread
1/4 cup melted butter or olive oil
salt and ground black pepper
2 tablespoons dried grind thyme, oregano or basil
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese


* Brush white/wheat bread with melted butter on both sides. Season each slices evenly with salt and pepper, herbs, and Parmesan cheese. Cut into bite-sized cubes. Place on a baking tray and put in the oven toaster. Toast until golden brown. Let it cool for a while and store in an airtight jar or container.

You can also add some fresh minced garlic or garlic powder, if desired.
