Invite your friends over and have a Mongolian grill party. The Mongolian grill is a breeze to prepare. Purchase the ingredients fresh, cut them up in desired pieces and lay them out in complimentary bowls on a table. Mix with the sauces and ready your pans. You’ll get to combine and cook your own favorite ingredients all together.

Ingredients:

Vegetables

  • 1 cup cabbage, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup carrots, cut into julienne strips
  • 1 cup young corn, thinly sliced, diagonally
  • turnips, cut into julienne strips
  • red and green bell peppers, cut into julienne strips
  • 1 cup leeks, thinly sliced, diagonally
  • 1 cup bean sprout
  • 1 cup string beans, cut into 1 1/2 inch thick
  • 1 cup minced spring onions
  • 1 cup celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 cup ginger, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup finger chili or bird’s eye chili,
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds

 Meats and Seafoods

  • 1 cup beef sirloin, thinly sliced and cut into strips
  • 1 cup pork, thinly sliced, and cut into strips
  • 1 cup chicken breast fillet, cut into strips
  • 1 cup fish fillet, your choice of fish, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup medium-size shrimps, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup squid rings
  • 1 cup chicken liver, cut into strips
  • 1 cup squid balls, cut in half
  • 1 cup fishballs, cut in half
  • Choice of rice-noodles combination rice sticks noodles, soaked and drained or egg noodles, blanched and drained.
  • steamed white rice

Sauces: Makes 2 cups per sauce variant. Combine and mix thoroughly in a serving bowl.

Mongolian Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup oyster sauce
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup rice wine
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili oil

Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

Chili Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup chili sauce
  • 1 pork broth cube, dissolved in:
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup rice wine
  • 2 tablespoons liquid seasoning

Saté Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 3 tablespoons liquid seasoning

To prepare and serve: place ingredients in a separate serving dishes or bowl, arrange on buffet table. Set griddle pans and teppanyaki grill at the end of the table. Guest will fill up their bowls with their choice of meats, vegetables, and sauces add cook them together in a hot grill or individual skillet or wok.

* The idea is for each guest to help him/herself from a selection of ingredients in a bowl and stir-fry the combination all at once on a hot grill.
